Smokey Robinson
Once called "America's leading poet" by Bob Dylan, Smokey (a/k/a William) still has the silkiest voice on the block to go along with his Valentine lyrics. At 42, he also has the same vulnerability he had when he and the Miracles sang the first big Motown hit for Berry Gordy in 1960, Shop Around. Since 1972 he hasn't had any Miracles. But his cooings of Old Fashioned Love (written by producer Mike Piccirillo and Gary Goetzman) and his own International Baby are exhibits A and B that he can still melt hearts.
