When planter's wife Lee Remick blasts Ian McShane into oblivion on a steamy Malayan night in 1939, it seems like just another case of English Virtue saving herself from Jungle Lust. Then somebody discovers a mysterious letter. Based on Somerset Maugham's short story, this TV movie, which also stars Jack (Breaker Morant) Thompson as Remick's cuckolded husband, isn't as sultry as the 1940 Bette Davis movie version, but it still turns up the steam.
