NBC (9-11 p.m. ET)
Valerie Harper is excellent as a compassionate assistant D.A. prosecuting both a rape case and the murder of a waiter by an ex-con turned author. If the latter sounds like the recent Norman Mailer-Jack Henry Abbott-Richard Adan case, well, the notoriety might attract enough viewers to make this a new series. Unfortunately, the TV movie is marred by too many seen-one, seen-'em-all courtroom characters and capers.
