Vanity 6

Surely you're kidding, aren't you, girls? This trio of rap-singing, discofying women could hardly have been serious in recording an album that includes such tunes as Nasty Girl, Wet Dream, Bite the Beat, Drive Me Wild and the irresistible He's So Dull. The women in question—Brenda, Vanity and Susan—share writing credits for most of this debut album, but might better have sought anonymity, in view of such lines as "Is Jimmy home?" "Yes, but he's takin' a shower." "Oh, I see, did he just take out the trash?" "No, that's somethin' he used to do; now he's takin' out me." On the other hand, Vanity 6's debut album does display a sense of humor. In If a Girl Answers (Don't Hang Up) they sing: "There's two things we can't stand. One is a jive-talk man; the other is a jive-talk man with no money."
