Alec Guinness is masterful as George Smiley, the central figure of author John Le Carré's literary spy world. The six-hour Operation Prime Time miniseries picks up where PBS' 1980 Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy left off, as Smiley once again tangles with longtime nemesis Karla, the Russian spy master played by Patrick Stewart.
