SHOWTIME (11/13)

Chevy Chase, Jack Lemmon and Steve Allen applaud the brilliant mirth-maker who died in 1962 but whose closet of zany characters (remember Percy Dovetonsils?) and technical innovations inspired later giggles on Laugh-In, Monty Python and Saturday Night Live. Kovacs' widow, Edie Adams, and daughter Kip-pie recall the man behind the hilarity, and introduce some never-aired film clips in this excellent tribute written and narrated by John Barbour, formerly of NBC's Real People. (Subsequent air dates: 11/17, 11/23, 11/26, 11/29)
