SHOGUN
NBC (8-11 p.m. ET)

Honorable Emmy-award winning miniseries, starring Richard Chamberlain as a shipwrecked English seaman who becomes a samurai and discovers sushi 300 years before the rest of the West, returns for the next five nights. The 12-hour drama, based on James Clavell's epic best-seller of political intrigue, love and war in 17th-century imperial Japan, also stars Toshiro Mifune as the powerful warlord and Yoko Shimada as the married lady samurai with whom Chamberlain has a forbidden affair. Orson Welles is a welcome addition, providing narration for those who were confused by the subtitles last year. (Repeat)
