The field would now seem to have been adequately covered, with the possible exception of How to Make Love to a Water Buffalo. Penney, a New York writer-editor, is guilty of having written the pioneering (if that's the word) How to Make Love to a Man. In this slight volume she explores such topics as "Orgasm Update," "How to Beat the Bedroom Blahs" and "Fantasy: How Far Is Too Far?" Penney, who has been married twice (since 1981 to a fashion photographer), is commonsensical enough and cites a few research sources. But, as with all books of this ilk, it's hard to resist the temptation to wonder every page or two, "Now who in the world would ever tell her that?" (Putnam's, $11.95)
