This thin volume is published in both black and white covers with the title in gold. In the beginning there is a sermon by the Rev. Oral McJorrity, D.D. Then "The Book of Creation," Chapter 1, Verse 24, says: "And on the evening of the fifth day, which had been the toughest day yet, God said, Thank me, it's Friday. And God made the weekend." In Chapter 3, Verse 15, it's added: "And Adam and his wife did look upon one another and did giggle." There is also a multiple-choice quiz to determine whether or not the reader is gay. In the Neo-Testament there is "An After Dinner Speech in the Mountains" by Christ. Is nothing sacred? This is an often tasteless, occasionally funny parody by two eternal juveniles, one a current and the other a former editor of the National Lampoon (they previously were guilty of Not the New York Times and Off the Wall Street Journal, among other spoofs). The authors no doubt meant well, but theirs is not a book for the easily offended. (Ballantine, $4.95)
