Political columnist Richard Reeves traveled from Rhode Island to Alaska, retracing much of the route followed by Alexis de Tocqueville in 1831-32 for his Democracy in America and addressing many of the same issues: immigration, politics and mass communication. But this rambling documentary packs too much into too little time.
