Zoe Caldwell re-creates her Tony Award-winning performance in Euripedes' tragedy, exacting fearful revenge when cast off by her ambitious husband, Jason. Dame Judith Anderson also delivers a grand turn as Medea's sympathetic nurse, but alas, the male principals (Paul Sparer as King Creon, Mitchell Ryan as Jason) are no match for the women. Poet Robinson Jeffers translated the drama into English in 1946.
