We might all be better off if people devoted more time to writing about nuclear war or the causes of crime than they do to writing about baseball, but it is, after all, spring. Hope is in the air; even the Chicago Cubs have a mathematical chance to finish first. And, it would seem, only those authors busy publishing diet books have not turned out some kind of volume about baseball lately. So, for those interested in something to do during rain delays, here is a scouting report on recent additions to the baseball literature.
