Picks and Pans Review: The Playboy Advisor on Love & Sex

UPDATED 06/13/1983 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 06/13/1983 at 01:00 AM EDT

by James R. Petersen

Petersen's "Advisor" column in Playboy is a welcome relief from the magazine's pompous pontificating about the philosophy of sex. This collection of letters and answers is explicit, casual and often clever. To a man whose woman friend kept a box of lewd photographs of herself and her previous lover, Petersen suggested, "Borrow a trick from Sherlock Holmes: Place a smoke bomb under your bed and see what she tries to save—you or the box." (Perigee, paper, $8.95)
