CBS (8-9 p.m. ET)

Michael Landon will play Bert Parks to 52 high school seniors who are going for the title and a $25,000 scholarship that goes with it. The colors of the American flag will be prominent onstage, and the young contenders will make their entrances to the recent hit song I'm Coming Out. In the poise department, they'll strut their stuff in a tribute to Fred Astaire, saluted as a stellar example of elegance. Like its big sister, the Miss America Pageant, this one should provide plenty of fodder for pop-culture analysts.
