Picks and Pans Review: Evita Perón

UPDATED 06/27/1983 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 06/27/1983 at 01:00 AM EDT

NBC (9-11 p.m. ET)

NBC cashed in on Evita fever with this four-hour TV movie starring Faye Dunaway as the poor Argentinian girl who rose to near sainthood (in the eyes of the peasants) as the wife of dictator Juan Perón. Dunaway gives a strong performance as the strong-willed Evita, but James Farentino as Perón is practically a wax figure. Part II airs on June 27, 9-11 p.m. (Repeat)
