ABC (8-10 p.m. ET)
This animated special does justice to the popular J.R.R. Tolkien novels on which it is based. Frodo the Hobbit journeys through Middle Earth to battle the lords of darkness. The program is visually excellent, and the voices (Orson Bean, Roddy McDowall and John Huston, among others) fit the cartoon characters beautifully. The only drawback is the labored pacing of the adventure. (Repeat)
