Perhaps because Wynette's personal life has been slightly stormier than say, Loretta Lynn's, her musical approach to romantic disappointment is more bitter. One tune on this LP, for instance, is Unwed Fathers ("From teenage lover to unwed mother/ Kept undercover like some bad dream/ But unwed fathers can't be bothered"). Stylistically, though, she's as much a purist as Loretta. Fans and newcomers both will like this album, especially the mournful title tune by Jeffrey Tweel and Paul Richey, Tammy's brother-in-law.
