Shades of Hepburn and Tracy. In this bright new series, Susan Clark plays a haute cuisine-loving Chicago consumer advocate who meets and two weeks later impulsively marries meat-and-potatoes football-jock-turned-sportscaster Alex Karras. After a Greek honeymoon cruise, they find themselves instant parents. Seems that Karras once promised a teammate to look after his only child, Webster (Emmanuel Lewis), if anything were to happen to him or to his wife. Sure enough, the parents perish, and Clark and Karras have to cope not only with each other but also with a black, sad-eyed, 6-year-old orphan. Lewis is an irresistible scene stealer and could wangle the Cute Kid Award away from Gary Coleman. In the premiere, Lewis runs away to the football stadium where his late dad starred, only to be found by a remorseful Karras. It's touching, lightheaded family stuff.
