The son of Martiniquais parents who raised him in France, Ponsar sounds like an American rhythm-and-blues funk-rocker, and a lively, likable one. While he says this is a concept LP, the concept gets lost in turgid lyrics on Gotta Get Outside and Keep It Hot. The album seems commercial enough, though, to satisfy the desire expressed in another of the tunes: I Want Money.
