Ray Price

Like trucks, beer and armadillos, Willie Nelson is now the stuff of country songs. Price renders Cliff Crofford's Willie, Write Me a Song on this album, with suitable tongue-in-cheek reverence for his old pal and sometime singing partner. The musical highlight of the 10 tunes, though, is Scotch and Soda, which Dave Guard of the old Kingston Trio wrote and used to perform even when he was with the group. Price adds the wisdom of his years to make it a most affecting—and memorable—barroom love song.
