Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
Vaughan, a Texan who played lead guitar on David Bowie's Let's Dance LP, is a rockabilly-blues guitarist of sometimes dazzling technique and emotion. He can also sing a lick or two, as this debut solo album demonstrates. It's not easy, after all, to sing the lines from Mary Had a Little Lamb as a blues tune—as Vaughan does on this LP in a tune by Buddy Guy—and make it sound better than mutton-headed.
