Picks and Pans Review: David Essex

UPDATED 10/03/1983 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 10/03/1983 at 01:00 AM EDT

David Essex

Essex has had a successful career in England, had a hit single here in 1973 in Rock On and even played Che Guevara in the original London production of Evita. This is his first album released in the U.S. in a while, though, and it is only for fans of heavy-voiced, heavy-handed rock. Essex wrote or co-wrote all the songs, and an example of his lyrical sense is "Secondhand love just won't do/ Can't you see what you're putting me through?"
