John Ritter—whose talent for light comedy has been all but drowned out amid the cruder context of Three's Company—shines in this fanciful TV-movie. Ritter is a stand-up comedian who takes a job as a limousine-driver to prove to his girlfriend that he is a responsible adult. The girlfriend, played by Susan (Emerald Point N.A.S.) Dey, complains that Ritter sees life as one long rehearsal. Ritter's job is steady, but his clients (a primal screamer, an underworld boss) bring him chaos. It's a silly caper, but Ritter—who gamely rehearses his act through it all—is delightful.
