It takes a certain kind of fortitude for a singer with the Murray's Pollyanna-ish image to record something like this title tune. Written by Charlie Black, Rory Bourke and Tommy Rocco, it is a lament that so much of the news is about crime and war. (It's not an Agnewian diatribe against the media but against the evils they're reporting.) Murray sounds appropriately distraught, though the title song is far more philosophical than she usually gets on her records: "I rolled out this morning/The kids had the morning-news show on/And Bryant Gumbel was talking 'bout the fighting in Lebanon." The rest of the album is a pleasant batch of pop by such composers as Kenny Loggins and Randy Goodrum. Patti Ryan and Wanda Mallette's Just Another Woman in Love is an ideal Murray tune, with just enough bounce and bittersweetness.
