Picks and Pans Review: This Girl for Hire

This amusing takeoff on 1940s private-eye movies features a tough-talking Bess Armstrong as the private investigator in a rumpled trenchcoat. Armstrong is hired to solve the murder of a well-known mystery writer (Jose Ferrer). Armstrong is cheeky, and she's aided by a cast of suspects that includes Roddy McDowall, Hermione Baddeley and Ray Walston.
