Celebrated by Neil Simon in his current Broadway play Brighton Beach Memoirs, an old Brooklyn neighborhood is lovingly portrayed in this enjoyable documentary. Only a boardwalk away from Coney Island, Brighton Beach is described as "a poor man's paradise," distinguished by its polyglot mix of ethnic cultures. Included in the film is 1930s stock footage of a senior-citizen beauty contest.
