First-time director Robert Redford and actor Timothy Hutton copped Oscars in 1980 for this moving drama about a well-to-do suburban teen who is guilt-ridden over the accidental drowning of his older brother. Mary Tyler Moore excels as his perfectionist mother, and Donald Sutherland is the loving father caught in the cross fire.
