Dec. 2, 1980. Jean Donovan, a lay missionary tending to the needs of the poor in a ravaged El Salvador, is traveling with three American nuns, all close friends and fellow missionaries. Two days later the bodies of the four are found by local peasants in shallow graves. In this chilling drama Melissa Gilbert excels as Donovan, the young woman who went from college student to church-woman to martyr in less than two years. Martin Sheen, Mike Farrell and Pamela Bellwood co-star in the TV movie, based on a real incident.
