Picks and Pans Review: A Walk Through the Twentieth Century with Bill Moyers

UPDATED 01/16/1984 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 01/16/1984 at 01:00 AM EST

PBS (9-10:30 p.m. ET)

The premiere episode of this documentary series is a portrait of Marshall, Texas, Movers' hometown (pop. 29,421). Although it starts as a fond reminiscence, including interviews with a delightful pair of sisters who were Moyers' teachers, the film becomes a serious study of the roots of racism. An absorbing beginning to a promising series.
