Picks and Pans Review: Right or Wrong

George Strait

Strait, 31, is C&W's green-eyed boy, with the mellowest sound this side of Don Williams and the ability to get a little closer to heel-stomping time than Williams ever does. The Texas-born Strait runs through a satisfying cross section of Nashville material on this LP, ranging from Darryl Staedtler's good-timing 80 Proof Bottle of Tear Stopper to the weepy Let's Fall to Pieces Together. Ubiquitous studio fiddler Johnny Gimble adds some typically happy turns on what is a straightforward, hard-to-argue-with country album.
