SCTV, the Canadian comedy show that boasted such prodigies of parody as John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara and Dave Thomas, started out in syndication, then drifted around NBC's late-night weekend schedule. Even when it was funnier than Saturday Night Live, which it often was, not many people noticed.
