In Britain, Debrett's is a well-known reference book listing titled people. This book, the first in a series on U.S. areas, is devoted to people who live in Texas. They aren't lords or ladies, but they are rich—the Hunts, the Klebergs (of King Ranch fame) and the Murchisons are among those included. If they are famous in showbiz, like Sissy Spacek, they are listed too. There is a section devoted to heroes of the Alamo, but then a gossip columnist for a Houston newspaper is included too, apparently because her last name is the same as that of the leading man on TV's Dallas.
