Stop or he'll shoot
When Sean Penn and his date and Racing With the Moon co-star Elizabeth McGovern headed for a Santa Monica eatery, they were met by paparazzi flashbulbs. Penn retaliated by threatening the photogs, claiming he had a gun in his jacket pocket. Fortunately the only shots heard as Penn and McGovern (she's behind him) retreated to their parked car were those of flashing cameras. Is there a moral in this case of the failed bluff? Maybe it's that the shutter was mightier than this Penn.
High and dry
Connie Francis and George Hamilton starred in the original version of Where the Boys Are, the 1961 film on the annual spring migration of college students to Fort Lauderdale. In producer Allan Carr's 1984 remake, the cast included Alana Stewart, who is George Hamilton's ex and who now is divorcing Rod Stewart. To celebrate the premiere, Carr kicked up his heels with Lynn Holly Johnson (left) and Alana at a "beach party" in Manhattan's Studio 54. For critics who were unkind to the film, here's sand in your face.
