The Eurythmics
Cool and ethereal, this spendid blend of sound and sight makes Annie Lennox seem as sexy as it is possible for a woman to be when she is constricted by the blank-eyed look so popular among rock performers. Lennox spends most of the 4:45-minute tape flowing around the Orkney Islands off the coast of Scotland in a long white nightgown that is much more modest than those worn by most women in music videos. Her partner, Dave Stewart, appears only in a couple of shadowy moments but nobody will miss him. There's much less pretension than usual, much more of an effective mood of longing and frustrated passion.
