Eddy Grant

You won't hear much of this song in the movie. It was intended as an end-credit tune, but had to be cut to a 45-second instrumental to accommodate the film score. That's too bad because Grant, who touched the popular nerve last year with his jaunty single, Electric Avenue, seems to be hitting his stride. From his base in Barbados he is grafting pop, rock and funk onto calypso and reggae with ebullient, infectious results. This 12-inch single is typically bounteous and unaffected, with distinctive work on synthesizer. It bodes well for the album, Going for Broke, due presently. (Portrait)
