Picks and Pans Review: Linda Ronstadt in Concert

UPDATED 05/28/1984 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 05/28/1984 at 01:00 AM EDT

HBO (Sunday, May 27, 8 p.m. ET)

The princess of pop, backed by Nelson Riddle's orchestra, performs her spectacular standards from the album What's New. Unfortunately, only one of their 16 songs was available for viewing last week. But if the concert is anywhere near as good as the album, it's sure to be wonderful. There are also songs not on the album: Mister Sandman, Choo Choo Ch'Boogie and Ronstadt's classic Desperado. Ronstadt is so good, her show has to be.
