Picks and Pans Review: Putting It on the Line

by David Fishof and Eugene Shapiro

The growing importance of players' agents is hardly the most pleasing development in pro sports. But it's hardly avoidable. This book by Fishof, who has represented such baseball players as Lou Piniella as well as footballers Vince Ferragamo and Fred Dryer, offers some insights into the perpetual hustle of a big-time agent. Fishof even offers tips for anyone interested in the business, under such headings as "never treat your opponent like a fool" and "kindness is decency." "Collect your percentage" is implicit.
