Cyndi just wants to have fun
Still riding high as the outrageous Betty Boop of rock, Cyndi Lauper, 31, and her boyfriend and manager, Dave Wolff, hammed it up between takes of her new She Bop video (the single arrived in record stores last week and is already climbing the charts). Time after time the zany Lauper has cast her family and friends in her videos, and She Bop is no exception: Lauper has recruited her mom, Catrine Dominique, three aunts and Wolff to appear in the $100,000 production, a fantasy recalling her adolescence in Queens.
Another one bites
The menu for the Silver Clef Awards charity luncheon at London's Inter-Continental Hotel featured smoked salmon and filet of beef. For dessert, Roger Taylor, drummer for the British rock group Queen, appeared to have his eye on "Nipper," the amiable mascot of England's His Master's Voice record label. The pooch resisted the temptation to live up to his name while being passed among such other rock luminaries as Rolling Stones Bill Wyman and Kim Wilde. But Queen (whose current U.S. hit is Radio Ga-Ga) emerged top dog, walking away with the Silver Clef for its contribution to British music.
