That's not to say that politics should be taken too seriously. There's lots to laugh at, lest you cry. Chicago Mayor Harold Washington blew his cool and called CBS' Ed Bradley "totally and completely bad" because Bradley tried to get Washington to talk to his political archrival. Geraldine Ferraro, not aware that she was on camera, said: "Peter Jennings? He and I had dinner together." Jennings blushed. Gary Hart gave Mondale the evil eye when Fritz ignored Gary at the convention's close. CBS' Andy Rooney tried to amuse in a tour of San Francisco as seen through hotel-room windows. As Andy Rooney himself might say: Didya ever get sick of hearing Andy Rooney? However, ABC's Mark Russell was funny, scolding Hart for announcing he would pick Ferraro for Vice-President too, thus violating the commandment "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's running mate."
