It was obviously no reflex action when Duran Duran drummer Roger Taylor, 24, finally wed his girl of four years, dance instructor Giovanna Captone, 22, in a hillside church in Naples last week. "We are very much in love," said Taylor, "and I know she loves me because I'm me and not just because I'm in a band." Fellow band member Simon Le Bon (right) was best man at the ceremony, and later the 200 guests drank champagne and partied on a 12-hour cruise around the bay before the happy couple set sail on their own for a honeymoon trip up the Nile.
Cher goes platinum
The 38-year-old blonde didn't rate a second look when she arrived at the premiere party of the movie Grandview, U.S.A. with her new "good friend" and co-star, Eric Stolz, 20. Indeed, it took a while for guests at the Hollywood Palace blowout to realize that Stolz's date was the newly peroxided Cher. She originally was cast as Grandview's streetwise heroine but pulled out and was replaced by Jamie Lee Curtis when the producers refused to cast Stolz as Grandview's leading man. No hard feelings: Cher and Stolz (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) are together at last before the cameras, filming Peter Bogdanovich's Mask at Universal Studios and on location in Los Angeles.
