by Gary Larson
Larson, 33, draws his syndicated cartoon panel, The Far Side, from a two-bedroom Seattle apartment overrun—or overslithered—with pet snakes. He also keeps an Argentine horned frog. What would you expect of a man who draws a panel showing two Egyptian sculptors working on the Sphinx, with one saying," 'That's fine,' I said. 'Good nose,' I said. But no, you had to go and hit the chisel one more time." Larson has the sort of sense of humor one imagines an armadillo has and, as this happy little collection of panels proves, he is at least twice as funny. (Andrews, McMeel & Parker; paper, $4,95)
