Picks and Pans Review: On Any Given Sunday

UPDATED 11/26/1984 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 11/26/1984 at 01:00 AM EST

by Pat Toomay

Anyone who enjoyed North Dallas Forty, the novel by Toomay's fellow Dallas Cowboy alum Peter Gent, will like this book. The hero is a defensive lineman (Toomay was a defensive end) who stumbles on a game-fixing scheme. While the byplay about manipulative coaches is familiar turf, the climactic big game, if predictable, still holds suspense. (Donald I. Fine, Inc., $15.95)
