by Sophia Loren

Her mouth is too large. Her nose is too long. Her hips are too wide. Yet Sophia Loren, even at 50, is almost universally regarded as beautiful. This is thanks not to cosmetics, but to her "charm, wisdom, intelligence and imagination," she writes in her not overly modest book. Loren says, "My approach begins not with the face or figure but with the mind. If you can learn to use your mind as well as you use a powder puff, you will become more truly beautiful." Sophia's book also offers the usual advice on diet, skin and exercise, just in case. (Morrow, $19.95)
