A & E (Wednesday, Jan. 23, 8 p.m. ET)
The Super Bowl it ain't. But this sporting event from the BBC is low-key fun to watch. A team of four Britons competes against a team of typical Americans—including an aerobics teacher, a real estate agent and a TV producer—on a couple of long and lovely obstacle courses. In one five-episode game in the series, the teams trek through the Scottish countryside, roughing it with kayaks, backpacks and campfires, to find an imaginary defecting chemist. The action is super slow at times, but it's spiced up by commentary from Bernard Falk. As the Yanks struggle to build a ramshackle home for the night, he asks, " This is the race that gave us Daniel Boone?" As they prepare to cook a furry haunch of venison for dinner, he observes, "Isn't this just typical of Americans, that they are building a barbecue out in the wild." Root for our side.
