Picks and Pans Review: Waylon: a Biography

UPDATED 02/04/1985 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 02/04/1985 at 01:00 AM EST

by R. Serge Denisoff

Exhaustive and scholarly it may be—this is no picture biography—but as a study of country music "outlaw" Waylon Jennings, this is not what you would call good-time reading. Denisoff, a sociology professor at Bowling Green State University, touches on Jennings' early days with Buddy Holly's band and his later drug problem, but there are too many asides on West Texas history and the Grand Ole Opry.
