Berman's explorations into "men's fears of intimacy" focuses on such problems as "the jealousy demon, which gains control when a man's self-doubts explode into fits of rage and revenge." His notions about areas of difficulty are sensible. Why Berman, a self-described "psychiatric journalist," insists on the popsy-psychy "demon" terminology is another question.
