CBS (Tuesday, April 2, 9 p.m. ET)

Here's a first-class cast—Anthony Hopkins, Blythe Danner and Swoosie Kurtz—in a top-notch tale, a murder mystery with no end of surprise endings. Hopkins plays a brilliant criminal lawyer who's planning the perfect crime—namely, offing his wife, Danner. In his imagination, Hopkins pits the criminal lawyer in him against his own criminal mind, letting one alter ego cross-examine the other to see whether he'd get away with it. It's like watching Sherlock Holmes plotting the perfect murder of Watson. To say any more about the plot would give too many endings away. It's enough to know that Guilty Consciences a delightfully complex puzzler played out by three of TV's best actors.
