Picks and Pans Review: Rock and Roll Girls

John Fogerty

Since Fogerty, all by himself, recorded the album from which this song is taken, it is puzzling to see him surrounded by a band on this video. It's especially puzzling because there's nothing else going on. Fogerty lip-synchs his vocals while one musician key-synchs a sax solo he never played, another stick-synchs an imaginary drum solo, and various others string-synch backup parts that Fogerty actually played. It would have been a lot more fun, not to mention more honest, to have Fogerty racing from instrument to instrument, or at least appearing in various disguises. What America needs is a truth-in-video law.
