It's fun to see bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe playing Skaggs' Uncle Pen, coming to visit Ricky in New York. It's fun, in a perverse kind of way, to see New York's Mayor Ed Koch look silly in a cameo appearance. It's fun to see Skaggs himself, pompadour neatly in place, pretending to pick away on that magical guitar in the middle of a subway station. There is so much bustling around, though, that it becomes disconcerting. This is one of those videos that raises the question: Why are all these people going to so much trouble?
