Picks and Pans Review: I Was Born to Love You

Freddie Mercury

Featuring Freddie's chest hair and the area where the zipper would be if his skintight pants had a zipper, this video makes the Queen lead singer look a little like a '30s matinee idol. The image is enhanced by the presence of about 300 goose-stepping dancing girls, who suddenly trudge into the middle of a sequence where Mercury is chasing a ditzy sort of woman through a set that looks like something out of an Astaire-Rogers movie. Directed by David Mallet, who has done videos for, among others, David Bowie and Billy Idol, this is for fans of wretched excess.
